Aerobic Kickboxing Class
Aerobic kickboxing classes will be offered on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 6:00 pm-7:15 p.m. Please bring an exercise mat and water. Cost per class is $2.50. ZUMBA is a Latin-music based cardio workout that will burn lots of calories! Monday class is from 6-7 pm, cost is $5.00 per class. Cynthia Elliott, a certified instructor will lead you through this fun workout to help reduce stress, burn fat, build endurance and tone muscles. Pilates is a method of body conditioning that is a system of stretching and strengthening exercises developed over 90 years ago by Joseph Pilate. It strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, provides flexibility and balance, unites body and mind , and creates a more streamlined shape. Class is Monday and Friday mornings from 9-10 am, cost is $5.00 per class. Please bring a mat.
Strength Training & Toning Class
Strength training and toning class will be offered on Wednesdays from 6 pm to 7 pm. Cost is $2.50 per class. Class may include leg work with resistance bands, squats, leg lifts, planks, push-ups and more. It is a total body workout with no routine to learn! Class will move to Hertford Grammar School, in the multi-purpose room beginning Wednesday, September 17, 2014. (603 Dobbs Street)
Watercolor Class-New session beginning in OCTOBER!!
A six-week course teaching watercolor to beginners and intermediates will be offered at the Recreation Center from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on the following Wednesdays: October 1st, 8th, 15th, 29th, November 5th, 12th and a make-up session on November 19th. Fee is $95.
The focus for class will be the elements of design-line, value, color, texture, shape, size and direction. The instructor, Margi Wynn had been seriously studying and painting in watercolors for the past 24 years. She has taught at George Mason University, Fairfax VA, as well as Dallas TX and Chesapeake VA. She was also recently the first place winner in Arts of the Albemarle's Landmark Show. Drawing & Painting Basics- New session starting in OCTOBER!!
A six-week course will be offered at the Recreation Center from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on the following Mondays: October 6th, 13th, 20th, November 10th, 17th and 24th with a makeup day on December 1, 2014. Fee is $90. A materials list will be provided to enrollees prior to the start of class.
Class is designed for new students and students who want to expand their skills. Instructor Annemarie Pomp has over 30 years classroom experience and had developed this class to help the aspiring artist learn how to develop basic skills. The open studio is sponsored by the Perquimans Arts League for artists who are experienced in the basics of their medium and need a time and a place to be creative and work. It will be held one Monday each month at the Perquimans Recreation Center: July 21st & August 18th. Sessions will run from 10:30 am until...., bring all your painting supplies and pack a lunch so you may enjoy the opportunity to work along with the companionship of other artists.
