Overturn of Photo ID Requirement for General Election

On July 29, a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit struck down photo ID requirements and associated laws in North Carolina (S.L. 2013-381, as amended by S.L. 2015-103).  The state is considering its options.  Barring a different outcome on appeal, photo ID will not be required in the upcoming general election.  Further details will be posted as they become available.

In September 2015, Perquimans County 911 Communications started working on upgrading equipment in the 911 Center by applying for State 911 Funding to provide the same level of 911 service across North Carolina, from Murphy to Manteo.  Therefore, Perquimans County 911 Communications can now receive and respond to texts message for emergency assistance.  For more information about this service, go to
